-Water resources are crucial for human survival and ecosystem sustainability. However, human activities like aquaculture and eutrophication can harm aquatic ecosystems and reduce their capacity, leading to environmental degradation. Aquatic ecosystems support various fisheries, including wild-caught and culture-based, and managing fish populations in freshwater and marine environments is essential. Biomanipulation, bioremediation, and sustainable aquaculture practices such as aquaponics are among the management strategies to overcome these challenges. The concept of carrying capacity is critical for freshwater ecosystems, especially in lakes, where nutrient levels impact ecosystem productivity. This course aims to explore these topics in detail, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of water resources management issues and approaches to addressing them.
